Overview
ClipLearner helps users save short English clips, vocabulary highlights, translations, and learning progress. This policy explains what information is collected and how it is used.
Information We Collect
- Account information, including email address and nickname.
- Saved learning content, including clip text, highlighted words, translations, source titles, source URLs, timestamps, and review progress.
- Short audio segments that you intentionally capture for transcription or listening practice.
- Basic technical data needed to operate the service, such as authentication sessions and service logs.
How We Use Information
We use this information to provide the ClipLearner service, sync your saved clips and vocabulary across devices, generate learning exercises, play saved audio, protect accounts, debug issues, and improve reliability.
Audio Capture
The Chrome extension keeps a short local audio buffer from supported tabs. Audio is uploaded only when you click capture. ClipLearner does not continuously upload your browsing audio in the background.
Third-Party Services
ClipLearner may use third-party services for transcription, translation, dictionary lookup, text generation, text-to-speech, storage, hosting, and email verification. Content required for those features may be sent to those providers only when the related feature is used.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We do not share your saved clips or vocabulary with other users unless you intentionally export or share them outside ClipLearner.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your clips, vocabulary, audio, translations, and progress are kept while your account is active. You can remove individual clips and vocabulary items in the app. For account-level deletion requests, contact the operator of this private beta.
Security
ClipLearner uses account authentication, HTTPS, and server-side API keys for protected provider calls. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep access limited to what is needed to operate the service.
